YOUR REAL ODDS

25 grants are awarded per cycle — this is a competitive peer-reviewed program, not a lottery.

Applications are scored by a panel on creativity and impact, project plan, and audience accessibility. Any proposal averaging 2 or below out of 5 is eliminated before final discussion rounds.

WHAT IT TAKES

  1. Review 2026 Program Guidelines and confirm NY State residency eligibility — 1–2 hours

  2. Write project narrative (up to 10,000 characters) covering overview, context, team, activities, budget, and audience — Several days

  3. Prepare supporting materials: résumé/CV and one visual, audio, or video file — 1–2 days

  4. Submit through Award Force platform before July 22, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET — 1–2 hours

WORTH KNOWING

The panel evaluates a single overall score in the first round — a weak section on any of the six narrative areas can drag your average below the 2.0 cutoff and end your application before discussion rounds. The budget explanation matters: you must account for the full $10,000 and name any outside funding if your project costs more.
