Your strategic partner carries real weight in the evaluation: they need to be a credible first buyer, distributor, or influential client who de-risks the technology and opens distribution channels, not a passive collaborator who signed a letter as a favour. Grant funds also cannot be used to pay US-based vendors without prior written consent from Alberta Innovates, and most applicants miss that restriction until it is too late to restructure their budget.
