Past recipients are almost always academics or established nonprofit leaders with demonstrated track records, so this grant is genuinely selective.

APF reviews LOIs quarterly and invites only a subset to submit full applications, screening out generic adaptations of existing work and anything without a clear innovation angle. Based on the recipient list, two to three projects get funded per year.
