Can you get this?
✓Applicant must be an SME under 500 employees
✓Must have Ontario operations and conduct project in Ontario
✓Project must be at Technology Readiness Level 3–9
✓Minimum one eligible partner required
✓Project must include demonstration of actual products in Ontario
Your real odds
No public win rate exists, but the bar is high: you need strong commercialization potential and a working product you can actually demonstrate.
The 2:1 matching requirement means you and your partners must contribute at least twice the OVIN grant amount, which limits the field to companies with real traction and funded partners already in place. The two-stage process screens applicants at the EOI stage, so you will know early whether it is worth writing a full proposal.
What it takes
Complete the client intake form to start the EOI process1–2 hours
Meet with an OCI Business Development Manager to assess fit and refine your approach1–2 weeks
Submit Expression of Interest (EOI)1–3 weeks to prepare
Submit Full Proposal if invited, including partner letters of support and budget3–6 weeks to prepare
Worth knowing
Your project must include an actual product that can be showcased in Ontario, not a research output, so line up a strong private-sector partner before you apply, because their financial contribution drives the match and their commercial pull strengthens your case.
