YOUR REAL ODDS

This is a pitch competition format, so winning requires completing multiple assessments and submitting a video pitch—not just filling out a form.

The program is run by LISC LA and BMO and targets an underserved population, which may reduce competition from more established businesses. Individual grant amounts are not specified in the source despite a headline figure of $200M total.

WHAT IT TAKES

  1. Set up a public business profile on a supported social platform (Fud, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok) with video capability — 1–2 hours

  2. Complete nine challenge assessments covering brand, financials, legal, technology, and more via the application form — 3–6 hours

  3. Record and upload a 60-second video pitch to the Fud app summarizing your business, vision, and growth goals — 1–3 hours

  4. Submit the full application at the LISC form link, including your working social profile link — 30 minutes

WORTH KNOWING

The program explicitly offers flexible-use funding, meaning recipients are not restricted to specific expense categories—this is rare for small business grants and makes the money more immediately useful.
