CAN YOU GET THIS?

You must be a U.S. nonprofit (501(c)(3)), unit of state/local government, or federally recognized tribe — individual artists and for-profits cannot apply.

Your organization must have completed at least 5 years of arts programming before the deadline and had a minimum of $20,000 in operating expenses in your most recently completed fiscal year. A 1:1 cost share (cash or in-kind) is required.

The NEA explicitly welcomes first-time applicants and organizations of all budget sizes from rural to urban communities, which broadens the pool considerably. Notification of funding decisions comes roughly 4–5 months after the application deadline.
