YOUR REAL ODDS

This is a competitive national fellowship with a rigorous multi-criteria review; cohort sizes are not published but selectivity is high.

The program draws from a wide applicant pool spanning social scientists, artists, journalists, and technologists, which means you're competing across disciplines. A clearly defined existing practice and a specific, feasible one-year project are both essential to advance past review.

WHAT IT TAKES

  1. Draft personal statement (written up to 1,000 words or video up to 5 minutes) describing your practice and guiding questions — 3–5 hours

  2. Write work proposal (up to 3,000 words or 10-slide deck) covering concept, technology engagement, approach, feasibility, and public contribution — 1–2 weeks

  3. Gather CV (2-page max) and two work samples with brief descriptions of your role — 2–4 hours

  4. Submit via online portal before the deadline — 1 hour
