✓Must commit to providing substance use services post-graduation
What it takes
Submit your application through the online portal, which opened April 1, 2026.
Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with addressing substance use disorder needs of one or more communities.
Commit to obtaining an addictions counseling credential by applying for a state addictions certification after graduation and submitting proof to NBCCF.
Commit to providing substance use disorder services within 1 year of graduation and for 2 years post-graduation, and to securing a substance use services-related internship.
Worth knowing
Fellowship awardees will be announced in October 2026, and all awards are subject to future SAMHSA funding. Recipients must remain enrolled part time or full time for the duration of the fellowship.
