CAN YOU GET THIS?

You must be a graduate student with at least one semester of full-time grad school completed by September 1, 2026, in urban planning, public policy, public administration, economics, or a related field.

You also need to be located within one hour of a host organization's office in one of the selected cities (including Washington DC, Detroit, Hartford, Portland, San Antonio, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Cleveland area), and must commit to 20 hours per week for the full September 14, 2026–May 14, 2027 period.

Only a small number of fellows are selected each year, matched to a fixed set of host organization slots announced in advance.

The 2026 cohort lists eight host organizations, meaning roughly eight fellows will be selected nationally. Competition is real, as top candidates are interviewed by both NCRC and the host organization before final selection.
