SPC runs two cohorts a year and accepts a small number of fellows from a global applicant pool, so selection is genuinely competitive.
The bar is exceptional people, not credentials, and past fellows range from Stanford professors to college dropouts to repeat founders with nine-figure exits. Competition comes from everywhere, and the cohort stays small.

You do not need an idea to apply, because SPC explicitly welcomes applicants who are still forming conviction, and many fellows pivot from their original idea during the residency phase. Solo founders are welcome, but you should be able to build and prototype independently.
