Your real odds
This is a provincial wage subsidy, not a competitive grant, so eligible nonprofits that apply correctly and on time are the intended recipients.
Your odds depend on meeting the eligibility criteria and submitting within the application window, because you are not competing against other applicants for a limited pool of adjudicated spots.
What it takes
Create a LaMPSS account and gather your charity or Society Act number1–2 hours
Complete and submit the online application describing your organization and the student position2–4 hours
If hiring a co-op student, obtain written confirmation of course credit from the educational program1–3 days
Worth knowing
The subsidy rate increases by $1 per hour, to $11.50 base or more for co-op placements, if the student belongs to a designated diversity group or is in a work-integrated learning placement, so structuring your hire around these criteria meaningfully increases your reimbursement.
