Your real odds
Funding is first-come, first-served, and Winter 2026 is already closed because demand filled it.
The portal is open for Summer 2026 and Fall 2026 only, and if funding runs out before your application clears, you land on a waitlist, so the day you apply within a term is a real variable.
What it takes
Confirm eligibility — check the student's enrollment status, placement relevance, and your business's employee count for 'net new' rules if you have 100+ staff30–60 minutes
Submit application through the OCC portal during an open term window1–2 hours
Receive conditional approval and sign the Recipient Agreement to reserve fundingDays to weeks depending on volume
Worth knowing
If you have 100 or more employees, the placement has to be net new above your historical baseline of student hires, meaning only the incremental hire above that baseline qualifies for funding.
