YOUR REAL ODDS

This is a competitive, application-based selection process run annually by a UN body with international reach.

No acceptance rate is published, but the programme is structured, 7 months long, and includes an in-person component in Hiroshima, Japan, suggesting a small cohort is selected. Apply early and with a well-developed project concept.

WHAT IT TAKES

  1. Create a UNITAR account and complete the application form at the programme page — 1-2 hours

  2. Prepare a clear project concept showing innovation, feasibility, and alignment with national development priorities — 3-5 hours

  3. Submit before the deadline — July 31, 2026

WORTH KNOWING

The programme explicitly rewards ideas that show partnership-readiness and investment orientation — framing your concept around public-private collaboration and Africa-Japan linkages will align directly with what selectors are looking for.
