Can you get this?
✓Must be a food or bio-industrial processor
✓Must be registered in Alberta
✓Stream A: annual sales $25,000–$10,000,000
✓Stream B: annual sales at least $1,000,000
✓One application per fiscal year allowed
Your real odds
Both streams are open and rolling until funds run out, so there is no fixed competition window, but the money is finite.
Applications are scored on eligibility and merit, so a project with clear sales and job-creation impact will rank ahead of a weaker one. Applying early in the fiscal year, from April 1 onward, reduces the risk of funds being exhausted before your file is reviewed.

Worth knowing
Capital expenses are reimbursed at only 25%, meaning you cover 75% yourself, while non-capital expenses are reimbursed at 50% up to $50,000, so projects built around consulting, training, or market development get a better effective grant rate than equipment-heavy ones.
