CAN YOU GET THIS?

You're eligible if your startup has raised under $10M, your product launched after January 1, 2024, and it fits one of eight tech categories.

Founders must retain some ownership, the company must be legally registered, and you can only enter one product. Global startups are welcome.

Since 2009, 732 companies have been selected as finalists across 19 years — a small number relative to a global open-call competition.

SXSW Pitch is competitive and well-known; being selected as a finalist is the goal, not a cash prize. There is a non-refundable application fee regardless of outcome.

WHAT IT TAKES

Pay the application fee and submit during Early Bird window — June 23 – September 13, 2026 ($105 fee)
Prepare your pitch materials covering your product, category fit, and differentiation — 1–2 weeks
Await finalist selection and pitch live in Austin if chosen — March 16–17, 2027

WORTH KNOWING

Applying during the Early Bird window (by September 13, 2026) costs $105 versus $225 for regular entry — same process, less than half the cost. Also, if you apply to multiple SXSW competitions, you can only be selected as a finalist in one, so pick your best fit.

TechRise Chicago Grants

$25,000–$50,000 non-dilutive, awarded per competition event.

Chicagoland early-stage founders can apply on a rolling basis to pitch for $25K–$50K in non-dilutive capital.

Athene Black & Brown Pitch Competition

Up to $12,000 for the top winner (varies by year); finalists receive $1,000. Awarded annually.
