What it takes

Complete a self-assessment against the Technology Readiness Scale (TRL) to determine whether you qualify for Phase 1 (TRL 1-4) or Phase 2 (TRL 5-9).

Read each challenge carefully, as each may outline distinct completion timelines and specify varying funding amounts before applying.

For Phase 1, develop a proof of feasibility report demonstrating the scientific, technical and commercial merit of your solution.up to six months

As the innovator, you retain ownership of any IP developed during the process, and the market-ready innovation is yours to commercialize. If your project reaches market readiness, you may also apply to the Pathway to Commercialization program, which lists your innovation for federal organizations to purchase for a 3-year period.
